Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport in relation to B&B’s and Self Catering Accommodation

Following An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar’s Post Cabinet Statement on the 24th March, please see below statement from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport in relation to B&B’s and Self Catering Accommodation:

 

The NPHET recommendations approved by Cabinet on the 24th March state that ‘all holiday/caravan parks are closed’ and ‘all hotels are limited to non-social and non-tourist occupancy’. While this doesn’t explicitly specify self-catering parks/facilities and B&Bs, our understanding is that they would be included under this, especially given the direction from An Taoiseach that “no unnecessary travel should take place within the country or overseas”. 

 

Amendments and Cancellation Policy during Covid-19

We appreciate and recognise the uncertainty that Covid-19 may be causing our customers. The situation is changing daily, and we will continue to follow guidance from the authorities in Ireland.

We are experiencing a large volume of enquiries, so we ask you to please bear with us in these challenging times. Be assured that we will reply to you as soon as possible. We are prioritising email responses to guests with immediate travel dates and we will respond to all enquiries as soon as possible. Please see the FAQ section below, as you may find the answer to your question there.

We have a Special COVID-19 Amendment Policy in place for anyone who is due to stay in one of our properties between now and 28th June 2020 and need to change the date of their holiday, and for guests who are travelling from outside the island of Ireland with holidays with an arrival date prior to 10th August 2020.  This policy is constantly being reviewed and updated in line with official guidelines and government directives.

Currently, the following options apply for amendment and cancellation requests.

1. Special Covid19 Amendment Policy

We have introduced a Special COVID-19 Amendment Policy to cover the following:

  • All stays that are due to begin in one of our holiday properties between now and 28th June 2020
  • All holidaymakers from outside the island of Ireland with booked holidays that have an arrival date prior to 10th August 2020. 

This special amendment policy applies for any holidays booked before 14th March 2020.  Any bookings outside of the special amendment policy fall under our standard booking terms and conditions.

2. Standard Booking Terms & ConditionsWhere our standard terms and conditions apply, the following cancellation policy is applicable.

In the event that you have to cancel your reservation for any reason, the cancellation charges will be as follows. If the cancellation takes place between:

0 – 13 days before arrival 100% of the total rental amount will be forfeited by the customer.
14 – 27 days before arrival 75% of the total rental amount will be forfeited by the customer.
28 – 55 days before arrival 60% of the total rental amount will be forfeited by the customer.
56 days or more before arrival the deposit will be forfeited by the customer.

Travel Insurance – If you have to cancel your holiday and you have travel insurance, please speak to your insurance provider. If we can assist you with cancellation confirmation letters, please let us know.

Property Owners – Please understand that we are working closely with our Property Owners to facilitate our guest’s requests.

 

FAQ’s

I am concerned about travelling. Can I amend my booking?

What happens if a warning is issued against travel in Ireland for my holiday dates?

If official travel restrictions are in place in Ireland, our team will be in direct contact with our customers to discuss their options.

Will I receive a refund if I want to cancel my holiday?

We are not currently offering refunds. Any bookings that are not covered by the Special Covid-19 Amendment Policy, fall under our Standard Booking Terms & Conditions.

Will I receive a refund if I need to self-isolate at home before I am due to go on holiday?

If you have travel insurance, please speak to your insurance provider. If you do not have travel insurance and you are due to travel up to 28th June 2020, we may be able to offer you a change of date without charging any amendment fees.

What happens if I need to self-isolate whilst I am staying in a holiday property?

As this is a situation that changes from day to day, we recommend that you review the up to date guidance from the HSE – https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/coronavirus.html. If you are advised to stay in your holiday property, please call our Customer Care team at +353 95 30620.

I am travelling from overseas, what are my options?
