Bearna /Barna is a Gaeltacht village located west of Galway city. Once a satellite of Galway city, the village has quickly become one of its growing suburbs. Whilst it is in the Gaeltacht, due to its expansion it has become largely an english speaking area.
With its growth in recent years, it has become a destination for holiday makers. From its boutique hotels to award winning seafood restaurants its the ideal location to unwind yet only be a short distance from the hustle and bustle of Galway City, should you need it. A highlight of Barna is its coastline and during summer months its a popular tourist spot with the Silverstrand Beach attracting many tourists.

Another popular area in Barna is Barna Woods. It’s a woodland area which is used by many walkers. With many golf clubs in the area, Barna has seen a growing popularity in golfers coming to the area to experience some of the best views available whilst still enjoying their sport.
