Cottages in Cashel

Description Of The Area

Cashel is a small village which lies in the beautiful Cashel Bay. The townland derives its name from the ringfort or “caiseal” which surrounds the present day graveyard at High Cashel or Caiseal Ard. Cashel Hill stands majestic at the top of the bay and it is worth taking a trek up this hill to experience the panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and breathtaking seascapes. Networks of lakes lie amid the bogs, the Twelve Bens and Maamturk Mountains are to the north and the sandy coves and blue waters of Bertraghboy Bay offer idyllic and tranquil scenery for all to enjoy. Cashel offers to bars, restaurants, a community centre and a children’s playground. Festivals in Cashel village include the Cashel Pony Show and the Cashel Together Festival.
