Description Of The Area

Cornamona (Corr na Móna) is a small village and townland in County Galway, located between Maam Valley and Clonbur village and in one of the most scenic areas of Ireland. Cornamona lies on the north of Lough Corrib in the middle of the Joyce Country Mountain and Lake Districts. The views over Lough Corrib are spectacular with its many islands dotted throughout. Lough Corrib covers a vast area of Co. Galway and has 365 small islands. It is a popular area among trout and salmon anglers and boat hire is available locally.

The local secondary school is Coláiste Naomh Feichín, and is busy even in the summer months when students come from far and wide to learn the native Irish language.

Cornamona has a nice park and a childrens playground along with a lovely shop and peaceful pub. Close by, perched on the shores of the Corrib is peaceful picnic area for all to enjoy on sunny summer days.
