Patsy’s cottage is a luxurious and modern, yet traditional thatched cottage uniquely blending contemporary conveniences with 1820’s charm. The cottage is located down a boreen (small country road) in rural tranquillity – take a stroll down past the cottage to the old Clifden to Galway railway line and on into the forest. The property is located just 4km from Oughterard which is the gateway to Connemara while also being just 40 min drive from Galway City – the perfect location for exploring. Oughterard is famous for its Salmon and Trout fishing and is also the start of the Western Way walking trail. Each year the village holds an International Mayfly festival. You can rent fishing equipment or enjoy a boat trip on Lough Corrib out to Inchagoill Island. The cottage is located close to Glengowla Mines and farm experience – a great way to spend a few hours panning for gold or learning to shear sheep. Also conveniently close to the cottage is Derroura Mountain Bike Trail
Patsy’s Cottage offers guests an opportunity to pause and take a step back. Enjoy cooking using vegetables from the organic veg garden, eggs from the hens or honey from the bee hives. The cottage has been designed with guest comfort and relaxation in mind with its open wood fire heated hot tub, sauna and ice plunge pool this cottage is perfect for couples and friends to share.

3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom – Sleeps 4. The accommodation is over two levels and includes a combined kitchen, dining and living room, 3 Bedrooms (1 in mezzanine) and main bathroom. Wi-fi is available and the property offers all modern conveniences.
Access to the cottage is through a traditional low door which features original stain glass from the local church into the main living space. The exposed wooden ceiling and clad walls from locally sourced wood give a spacious yet cosy feeling to the cottage. The modern kitchen is well equipped with storage and appliances including electric oven and hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee machine and washing machine. The living room focuses around the beautiful wood stove, with comfort seating the perfect space to enjoy a cosy evening in. No TV. From this central living space is a narrow ladder (not suitable for children) up to a small mezzanine with a single bedroom. Off the living room you will find a further single bedroom & the large master bedroom with double bed. There is a stunning bathroom with large walk-in shower WC and ornate sink. Externally there is a beautiful garden with a wonderful seating area around a fire pit. There is a sauna offering views into the forest as one end is made completely of glass.
The property is electrically heated. E.V Charger. Bed linen and towels are provided. Smoking is not allowed indoors. Utilities are included in the rental price. (Overuse of EV charger will have to be paid for) Wi-Fi is included. Parking is available for up to two cars. Pets are not allowed. Short breaks are available year-round.
A security deposit of €200 is required for this property. Our reservations team will arrange this with guests prior to arrival. Pre-authorisation of a payment card will be required.
